The ban on the supply of such bags by retailers came into effect on November 1.

A South Australian university study conducted by the Ehrenberg Bass Institute of Marketing Sciences found that the number of bin liners purchased by South Australian families increased from 80.
The study says it highlights doubts about the ban\'s environmental benefits.
The July and August 2011 studies were based on data including observations of 614 supermarket shoppers, exit interviews with 278 observers, and 77 interviews at the mall.
The discount department store Target recently reversed its ban on plastic bags.
Since June 2009, retailers have forced customers to buy packaged shopping bags.
However, Target has now re-launched free shopping bags, which environmental activists say are made up

In states where lightweight plastic bags are prohibited, plastic bags are thicker.
Coles offers a range of reusable bags for sale, starting with 15 each, and supermarkets also donate 5 from each Landcare bag sold to help Landcare fund schools and communities
Woolworths also sells 15 reusable bags, but a spokesman said shoppers are becoming more and more popular using their own.
Providing free shopping bags will prevent people from using fewer plastic bags, she said.
