This is not a school backpack.
This bag can accommodate everything you need for the week
About $25 for a long backpack trip.
It is mainly made of adhesive tape and some PVC pipes, light in weight and durable.
It does take some time to make a backpack, but it is not too difficult.
Required materials: 1-
3/4 \'pvc pipe length 10ft ($1. 60)4 -
3/4 \'elbow joint ($1. 30)4 -
3/4 \'three links ($1. 30)3 -
45 yards of industrial tape ($18. 00)1 -
PVC pipe cement tank ($2. 00)1 -2\" Buckle ($2. 50)Optional:Spray-
Bag opening foam pad for waist and shoulder strap frame buckle paint (
I\'m not using anything high-
Grades, it still works very well)
Skills required: very basic PVC bending skills.
Cut the 10-foot-long pipe into parts.
Size 19 cm-
Lower side of frame 2x24 cm-
Upper side of frame 6x36 cm-
It is not important that the middle part of the frame and the cross part of the frame use these precise lengths, it is important to ensure that these pairs are exactly the same.
Otherwise the frame will be unbalanced and funny on your back.
Now take four out of six 36 cm long lengths and bend them to the angle you want.
I bend my bucket with a 5 gallon bucket, but you can use any round object you may have.
EHow has a good explanation of how to bend the PVC, so I will include the link to their instructions.
The bending length is now about 33 cm on a straight line from one end to the other.
Assemble the frame and glue the pieces together with PVC cement.
Press the frame and connection tightly to ensure the safety of the accessories.
Do it now if you want to paint.
Now we start making bags for backpacks.
I prefer to use the rotating cutting board as shown in the following figure.
With these, you can place all the tape face down on the board and easily correct your size.
Separate the sides of the bag and then match the sides to make sure they are the same size.
Here\'s my size if you want to use them :(
Note that there are only four pieces and I have two sides, bottom and front.
The back will be opposite to the backpack frame and we will do the top later)
Size: Side
52 cm high x 28 cm deep bottom-
37 cm wide x 28 cm deep front-
The front and side of the 52 cm high x 37 cm wide tape are securely combined.
Next, tie the bottom to the front.
Finally, tape the bottom to the side.
What will the bag look like. (
The photo frame is in the picture, the bag used to support the picture.
This is not what the bag sitting on the frame will look like).
The bottom of the bag should be placed in the lower cross section instead of the bottom of the frame.
This will leave room for sleeping bags tied to the frame.
The top of the bag will be between the upper beam and the top of the frame.
Now start to tie the top of the bag to the frame until the upper beam.
I drew the bar on the width of the frame because I wanted to draw the support band on the top.
If you don\'t want these, tape the bags on both sides.
Make sure to cover the sticky back of these tape.
There will be something extra at the bottom of the bag, cutting it off in the shape of a crossbar.
Tape that cuts the part to the bar.
Now run the tape strip between the two bars (
Should be the open cover of the package).
Cover the sticky back with tape.
Do not tape the sidebar until after step 8.
This step is important, but easy.
Just run some strips in the area your back will face.
This prevents the back from hugging your back, which adds a lot of comfort.
Shoulder pads stretch out two (42cm x 8cm)of foam.
Make 4 tape of the same size.
Layer each piece of foam between two tapes.
Tape around the edges.
** You can also taper the end of the foam to make it more suitable for your body.
This is the improvement I want to make. . .
But the rest of the shoulder strap is unnecessary (Thin part)
The next step can be done.
I fold a piece of tape in half and stick it on two layers to make it thicker.
Adjustable straps * There are several ways to connect the shoulder straps.
I chose to use the plastic slider so that the strap can be adjusted easily.
You can also make some tape sliders or simply tie the straps down.
* By running a narrow tape on the top ring, attach a button like a photo to each pad that should be tied.
Then tie the strap to the bottom of the supposed strap.
Make 2 tape pieces 35 cm x 2. 5cm.
Pass these thin straps through the bottom of the buckle.
When finished, attach the shoulder strap to the upper beam.
You can put them on either side you want, comfortable or not.
Attach the thin strap to the side of the frame or lower beam, whichever is more comfortable.
It\'s time to make and connect the waist strap.
This strap is very important because most of the weight of the package will be borne by this strap.
Cut some padding first (If you want it)
Recording on it the same way you do with shoulder straps.
Here is my size: size 84 cm Long 12cm WideYou may have to make this belt shorter or longer depending on your waist size.
The straps should be comfortable enough to fit on top of the hips so they can withstand the weight of the backpack.
Before you connect the Belt and tape it down, add some sort of connecting device to the end of the strap.
I used a 2 inch buckle here, but there are a lot of different options.
If it is not a buckle, I would suggest setting up two rings where there are two rings at one end of the strap and a piece of tape at the other to go through the two rings.
This setting is easy to adjust, which is important for the waist strap.
Whatever settings you use for the waist belt connector, make sure it is adjustable.
Now just tie the waist strap to the frame (
Two horizontal bars at the bottom)so it is well-secured.
Make a tape rectangle of 35 cm x 39 cm.
This will be the flap at the top of the bag.
Cut out two corners (
About 1 inch square meters)
Therefore, the flaps will be installed between the sides of the frame.
Attach this tape to the top of the bag.
You can fix the flap with a buckle, but I\'m happy with the tape.
Both work properly.
After finishing the backpack, I realized that the bag was a bit too thin, so a stand was added to the bottom.
A wire hanger does a good job, just bend it into the shape of the bottom of the bag.
Put it at the bottom of the bag and tape it down.
An important feature of this backpack is the ability to customize it.
Add pockets of any shape and size and take them out if needed.
Remember to throw a roll of tape when you go hiking for any repairs or additions. You\'re done!
