Whanganui shoppers can now pick up or drop reusable bags at the Whanganui bag recycling project Station in Trafalgar Square.
Encourage people to recycle and share community projects that are not rubbish
On Friday, October 27, plastic shopping bags were launched with nearly 300 handmade fabric bags available.
Project spokesman Iva Leonard and Deb Hallett said their goal was to help reduce environmental pollution caused by plastic bags.

The sewing team meets in the Gonville community conference room in Abbot St and is looking for more participants.
The project is seeking to donate old pillowcases, fabrics and sewing supplies, including lines, to make more bags.
Donations can be sent out in the Koha Shed on Duncan Street.
